Nissan Frontier Lift & Leveling Hub
Nissan Frontier lift and leveling hub: 2005–2021 D40 and 2022+ generations, the PRO-4X exceptions, and verified kit fitment that spans both trucks.
- 2005–2021 (2nd gen, D40) · 2WD / 4WD
- 2022+ (3rd gen) · 2WD / 4WD
The Frontier is the exception that proves the generation rule. The 2005–2021 (D40) truck ran for sixteen years with one architecture; the 2022+ (3rd gen) truck is a redesign — yet the front suspension lineage is close enough that Rough Country lists its 2.5-inch kits for 2005–2026, across both generations. That is the manufacturer’s own application, verified on its product pages, not an assumption: always check, because on most platforms a cross-generation listing is a red flag, and on this one it is genuinely how the catalogue works.
We have not hands-on tested kits for this platform. Everything published here is tied to a cited source — manufacturer fitment pages, checked 2026-11-04 — and our method is explained in how we test and verify.
Check first: the exclusions that decide everything
- PRO-4X and Desert Runner. The off-road trims (Bilstein-equipped on the PRO-4X) are excluded from Rough Country’s mainstream 2.5-inch leveling kit. PRO-4X owners route to dedicated hardware — Rough Country’s 82014 is a 2022+ PRO-4X-only kit, verified in our guide.
- Height does not buy tires here. Rough Country’s 6-inch kit for the 2022+ truck still states a 33-inch tire ceiling and requires 18-inch-or-larger aftermarket wheels. Read the stated max tire, not the lift height.
- ReadyLIFT’s ceiling. ReadyLIFT’s 2.5/1.5 SST for this platform states a 32-inch max tire and a 2005–2023 application — the one mainstream kit that does stop at the generation line.
The verified ladder
The budget end is Rough Country’s spacer kits (from $79.95), which span both generations; ReadyLIFT’s SST adds rear lift for a level stance; ICON’s Stage 1 system ($1,891.25 on ICON’s own page, adjustable 1–3 inches, recommending 33x11.50 tires) is the coilover route. The full list — with per-kit exclusions, stated tire claims and the kits we deliberately left out — is in our Frontier leveling and lift kits guide.
Your workflow on this platform
- Name your generation: 2005–2021 or 2022+.
- Check the PRO-4X / Desert Runner badge before anything else — it reroutes the whole catalogue.
- Compare stated max tires, not lift heights; on this platform they decouple fast.
- Convert your tire goal with the tire size calculator, sanity-check it against the tire size and lift height guide, and price the whole job with how much does it cost to lift a truck. New to the vocabulary? Start with leveling kit vs lift kit vs body lift.
